"And that pain you feel? That's life. The confusion and fear? That's there to remind you, that somewhere out there is something better, and that something IS worth fighting for."-Nathan Scott

Hatchet Lit. Circle Reflection
I was paired with a difficult group to deal with. But they helped me in a way that I did not realize. They all showed me different perspectives about how they think the pilot got sick or why the mother gave Brian the big hatchet. Our discussions weren't always productive. But when they were, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing what others saw in the character by not always agreeing with what one person said or looking at the opposite of what happened.
I, of course, could not relate to such a situation like that. But, I could relate to how others in my group felt about the discussion. For example, Nick, showed me that Brian knew more than he actually thought he did. And that often happens to me. I have an ability that I don't realize until I get put to the test. My group was different, but helped me see the book in another way.
I predict that Brian will crash the plane in the forest. But since he isn't that great or experienced of a pilot, he will get trapped in the plane when it crashes. I also think that he will become a real tree hugger because he probably learns what berries to eat and what plants not to touch. I think he will become very connected to the earth and forest. I also think that he will be saved at the end.
I really enjoyed hearing the other's opinions and thoughts. I am also really enjoying the book.

Papua New Guinea Not Up-To-Date?
Why isn't Papua New Guinea as up-to-date as it should be? Studies show that it could possibly be because of their location. But, Papua New Guinea is in the same region as Australia and New Zealand, which are immensely modern and hip.
Papa New Guineans have much to worry about. They still live as hunter gatherers in small groups. They have make sure that everyone is sheltered and fed. It's not easy when your life is depended on whatever nature could possibly throw at you. These people are very deserving of everything they get. But why don't they have as much "cargo" as we do? That very question was asked at random to a middle aged scientist on the beaches of Papua New Guinea. He was there to study how the New Guineans lived and was puzzled with this very question.
It is as simple as 6th grade logic that you would realize how largely difficult it is to live as a hunter gatherer. There is always so much to do. And they don't have barely any time to get caught up in Ipods and Televisions and all that. They literally can't afford the time to sit down and stare at a screen. And look at modern humans, for some of us our lives depend on computers and televisions.

My Courageous Moment
I am not the most courageous girl you will ever meet. But I do remember how I got over roller coasters. Two summers ago my family decided to go to California. Our family there loves amusement parks, so in the same week we went to Knotts Berry Farm and Disney Land! I was a complete chicken at Knotts Berry Farm, I couldn't even counquer the pony ride (it went extremely high and fast for a pony ride!). But when I went to Disney Land I tried something different. I thought to myself, instead of being the chicken waiting on the bench for the ride to be over, I decided to try one. Two words, bad idea. I was in tears, "Why did you let me do that?" But right when I stopped crying, I wanted to go on space mountain, then the ferris wheel, then thunder mountain. My fear was counquered.

Investigating the Past
The question I chose for my investigating the past blog is" How did early humans use art to express their prehistoric culture?"
Many early humans did not communicate through language alone. So, many of them used art to help them communicate their feelings and express themselves. They combined animal and plant resources to make paint to paint their open walls of their caves. They depicted good events and bad ones too such as dead animals that represented successful hunting trips and some even had a hunting trip gone wrong.
Thankfully they did this because it gives us at least a glimpse into this prehistoric race and although we know little of the actual culture from that time we at least have these paintings that give us a small understanding to the culture of our ancient past.

Archeologist's
If I had to chose to be a social scientist I would arguably be an Archaeologist. Some love to study and reason theories, I like to get down and dirty. Here are three reasons why I chose an Archaeologist instead of a Geographer or a Historian:
- I am really good with memory in which I can use to remember important facts about certain fossils
- I love to be surrounded by nature whether it's in a dessert or not.
- I'm quite active and would prefer camping out in a dessert or mountain much more than being stuck in an office.

About Me
Hi everyone! My name is Lily. Recently I have been reading the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and before that I was reading Percy Jackson and The Battle of the Labyrinth and Percy Jackson The Last Olympian both of which are written by Rick Riordan. Lately I went to see Salt with Angelina Jolie. Although it seems as if I am focused on books and movies my goal this year is to try my hardest and do my absolute best at every path or choice I take. In order to do that I am planning on extending my academic abilities in reading, writing, and speech. I know it is going to be hard but I hope to strive and help friends and peers to do the same which is my social goal. Now something fun! One year my parents decided that we should go to Krabi, Thailand. So one afternoon we were hanging out on the beach (full of people and monkeys) so my brother decided to take a stick and poke at a monkey with it. When the monkey gets fed up with my brother, he and his friends jump out of the tree and start chasing him down the beach. I quite enjoyed watching my brother flail and scream down a public beach while we just stared, pointed, and laughed. If I had to chose five things to describe myself, I would pick: open minded, outgoing, caring, active, up-for-anything, and confident. Thank you for reading all about me! Hope you enjoyed it!
